How did you meet?
Jayson and I met when I was 17 and he was 21. We both worked part time at North Beach during university. He was surfy and adventurous and like no one I had ever met before. We instantly hit it off- working is fun when you have a secret crush! After 8 amazing years together and many adventures he finally popped the question!
When and where did you get married?
We were married on the 28th April 2018. We chose Mudbrick Vineyard on Waiheke as our special spot. Our ceremony was held at the Mudbrick Lodge.
What was the theme/aesthetic of your big day?
We have always wanted a timeless wedding in a season of change. This is why we chose to have an Autumn wedding. Simplistic elegance was the essence of our special day. White bouquets, candles and a string quartet welcomed in our guests. Our ceremony was intimate and the ambience was magical underneath the glass canopy. The ceremony and reception was more than we could have ever hoped for.
What was the biggest source of inspiration while planning your wedding?
We had a clear vision of what we wanted for our day. Over the years we have attended many weddings and we have always remembered the ones where there was an overwhelming feeling of love. We didn’t want to over complicate or take away from what was actually important.
The most memorable moment from your day:
Walking down the aisle would definitely have to be the most memorable moment of my day. Turning the corner to see all my beautiful guests and Jayson’s tears... it made my heart burst. I was so overcome. It was a moment I will remember forever.
The biggest hit on the dance floor was:
“Have you ever seen the rain?” By Creedence Clearwater Revival. We were so lucky that the torrential, stormy day was broken the very moment we were married. The clouds parted and the sun shone. It was magical. This song was a great hit on the dance floor!
We honeymooned in:
Hawaii for ten days! We departed the day after our wedding.
Did you always have an idea in mind of what you wanted your dress to look like?
I have always dreamed of having a pure white, long sleeved, slim fitting wedding dress. After trying on Trish’s gowns I fell in love with the intricate beading. It was paramount to have a beautiful, timeless gown. The dress evolved with each visit. It was so exciting to see the sketch come to life! Weddings are so personal and tailor made to fit the couple, so it only seems fitting to have a dress that does the same. 💛
